Oluwatosin Oguntunde Philip has over 5 years’ experience in youth development, entrepreneurship education, human capital development, and non-profit management with top-tiers organisations in Nigeria and sub-Saharan African Countries, and is passionate about the use of Artificial Intelligence, Creativity, Innovation and Design Thinking to meet clients goals and expectations.

Social Impact Africa is a Youth-led, volunteer-driven, development-oriented organization, that provides sustainable innovation-driven solutions to poor educational and economic opportunities among disadvantaged children and youths in Nigeria.
Social Impact Africa have over five(5) years of proven history of increasing the participation of the children and youth in civic leadership, entrepreneurship and 21st-century life skills development among disadvantaged children and youths within marginalized communities and cities in Nigeria.
With evidence-based, key developmental ideas and innovations; it had demonstrated impacts by fostering transformational leadership experience; through capacity building, advocacy campaigns, sensitization awareness, and economic empowerments among disadvantaged children & youths in Nigeria.
Through organized conference, capacity-building workshops, innovation bootcamp, educational resource mobilization, academic supports, peer-to-peer mentorship, oratory competition and open source online learning; Social Impact Africa has trained and mentored over 3,500 economically disadvantaged children, through collaborating with 15 school academic head and principal; mobilized 210 units school furniture and donated 100 units academic textbooks through strategic partnership with MTN Foundation Nigeria; resulting into excellent academic, career and leadership pursuit.
85% of the children has excellent academic results, in both internal and external examinations; gained admission for university education; participated in various volunteering opportunities for community development; demonstrated personal excellence in transformative leadership, employment and entrepreneurship.

A. On Professional Skills Development:
Professional skills development is great and can be the only way to unlock your career success. But you’ll need to become a life long learner. I mean an addicted learner who prioritizes learning processes.
The best way to do this is to increase your teachability index. Your teachability index is your WILLINGNESS TO LEARN and your WILLINGNESS TO ACCEPT CHANGE.
Your willingness to learn might be within the scale of 10 out of 1-10, while your willingness to accept change might be within the scale of 1. It’s not about the learning per say. It’s about accepting the transformation that the learning process could birth. The most fundamental question you’ll need to ask yourself is this: “Are you willing to accept change during your learning process?”.
It takes sincerity to acknowledge ignorance and incompetence when something new is thrown out on you.
According to Oluwatosin Oguntunde, To develop professional skills you can adopt the following ways:
1. Volunteering: you can join social groups and organizations as an intern to build up expertise. But you’ll need to have identified the specific skills that you want to learn.
2. Apprenticeship: you could work for somebody as an apprentice to learn what that person knows or to gain some measure of competence when you need to gain one. Most times this is always used in vocational and technical trainings. Apprenticeship is like saying here I am. I am willing to sacrifice my time and my money to learn these skills in order to be economically free. It’s the best way of learning anything.
3. Online Learning: you could gain access to core expertise using your mobile phone and laptop and through online learning websites like slatecube.com; edx.org; edx.org; futurelearn.com; coursera.com; etc. You can also use Google to search out specific online platform that can help you gain the needed competence.
4. Paid Trainings: you could also locate a paid training or seminar that will help you learn specific skills and expertise within your niche. Check up Meetup.com for more informations.
B. On CV Writing:
In life, there are four levels to learning which I’ll want you to be aware of. And they’re:
1. The Level of Unconscious Incompetence: this is a stage of complete ignorance. This is when you don’t know that you don’t know. I know many of you here will be in this category. Many are in the level of complete ignorance and they’re not aware of it. Ignorance is very deadly.
2. The Level of Conscious Incompetence: this is a stage of recognizing that you’re ignorant. But, you’re willing to work to build competence in that specific area of ignorance.
3. The Level of Unconscious Competence: this is a stage of your willingness to educate your ignorance and you keep working on building your competence.
4. The Level of Conscious Competence: this is a stage of complete mastery. This is the stage I’ll be taking you to through my teachings.
Now let’s dive in to the concept of CV Writing.
What is a CV as defined by Oluwatosin Oguntunde?
CV is a personal branding document that help you sell yourself effortlessly. CV is also known as Resume. Resume is used in United States, while CV is used in United Kingdom.
CV means Curriculum Vitae. CV writing is a core skills you need to acquire. It’s a skill that will help you gain access to all level of opportunities from fellowship, internship, and job opportunities. CV is crucial and very important to your success both personally and professionally.
What are the types of CV?
There are basically three types, and they include:
1. Functional CV
2. Chronological CV
3. Combined CV
1. A functional CV: is a CV format that project the skills you possess, and it is written, to focus on your work experience, knowledge and expertise. It is developed and organized by your individual skills rather than your previous job titles or chronology. So the focus here will be more on your individual skills. A functional CV is typically used by job seekers who are changing careers, who have gaps in their employment history, or whose work history is not directly related to the job.
2. The chronological CV: is the most used today. It projects your work experience over the years. This is what most recruiters are looking for. They want to know what you have done before and the experience you’ve gathered from your previous job roles. The chronological CV organizes information chronological. Your job roles are captured from present job roles to past job roles. The combined CV is a format that unveils your work-based roles and skills. It’s a combination of both the functional and chronological CV.
3. The combination CV: is also known as the chrono-functional CV, and as its name suggests it is a combination of the experience-based chronological CV and the skills-based functional CV. Needless to say, this type of CV contains the best of both formats and jointly focuses on skills and work experience. The combination CV is longer than the other types of resume, therefore it is important to grab the reader’s attention immediately just in case he loses interest and stops reading before he reaches the best part.
Building Block of An Effective CV BY OLUWATOSIN OGUNTUNDE
1. CONTACT INFORMATION: This contain your Name, Contact Address, Phone Number, Email Address, LinkedIn Profile Address, and Website Address.
2. PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY: This contain a professional career summary, which includes your career goals, aims, objectives, values, and visions.
3. EDUCATION: This contain details about educational background and qualifications.
4. PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE: This contain the skills you have developed and consciously built over time as an individual.
5. WORK EXPERIENCE: This contain details about your work experience. The work you have done in time pasts. Most especially those ones you’ve done that has impacted positively to your life by helping you to build expertise and gain experience in any field.
6. PROJECT: This contain all the details of the project you have been engaged in. This include Volunteering Projects, Social Impact Projects, and Personal Projects you’ve implemented in time past.
7. PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION: This contain the professional certificate you have acquired within your niche areas. This is needed to project your expertise in your niche areas.
8. INTEREST: This contain details about your hobbies, what you like doing, or what you are passionate about, likewise it contain details about what you like.
9. LANGUAGES: This contain details about the languages that you speaks. Itemize all the languages that you speak at the proficient and advantage level.
10. REFERENCE: This contain details about the person and individuals who know you, and confidently talk about you.
Social Development Basics: Thinking Like A Design Thinker.
For about five years, I have been privilege to meet and work alongside with diverse people and professionals in the development sector, Most especially NGO Leaders and Social Entrepreneurs focusing on providing ‘specific solution’ to a ‘specific social problem’ in there community. One thing I’ve brilliantly observed is this: “people develop the right solution to the wrong problem.”
In social development, one key tool and technique you must understand and know how to utilize productively is DESIGN THINKING. Every social change leaders must think like ‘a design thinker’.
Design thinking offers a creative process of buliding up solutions to a problem in a specific niche point.
It’s a method of creative action that makes you acts in the right direction. Not only does it bring solution to a problem, it also make you develop a sustainable solution to a problem.
It taps into innate human capacities, focusing on creating an extensive solutions that are human centred.
Design thinking skills are a very important and veritable skill to learn. It’ll clear-out every doubts and help you create values that are sustainable.
Here it goes….
1. EMPATHIZE: Understand The Problem That Exists and Feel The Pain Points.
Nothing matters in social development and impact like understanding the pain-point that exists within a community, society and nation.
You need to feel the pain and clearly get a first hand understanding of what the problem truly is.
“What are the problems that exist within your community? What are the painpoint?”
Also, try to conduct a community survey to get a first hand knowledge on what the problem simply is. Then collate your findings together.

2. IDEATION: Developing Innovative Solution To A Specific Problem.
Having define the specific problem that exist within your community, society and nation.
The next step is the ideation process where you design processes, innovations, initiatives, and ideas to the identified problems. You need to concentrate on ‘idea generation’ and coming up with concept and outcome-based solution that can be used to specially solve a problem.
3. PROTOTYPING: Building The Ideas Into A Concrete Concepts and Framework.
At this stage, you’ll need to build a prototype or a model of the specific ideas that you want to launch. The prototype should be an inexpensive model that the end users can use easily. But, the main essence of developing the prototype is to let the end users connect with the solutions in order to get a feedback from them on specific features that works and those ones that is not working and not needed by the end users. In the prototyping state, there is the ” Rapid Prototyping Tools” that can be used to build up easily.
RAPID PROTOTYPING YOUR IDEAS BY OLUWATOSIN OGUNTUNDE
Ideas are nothing, in fact, ideas are worthless. It’s implemented ideas that make things happen. Have you heard this sentence: “Ideas rule the world”. That is not valid. I stand to be corrected. It’s implemented ideas that rule the world.
Imagine saying that having the idea of creating electric bulb rule the world. If Thomas Edison had not experimented countless number of time. That was about 1,000 times, to bring the idea of electric bulb creation into fruition, will electric bulb be invented. No it won’t.
All those numerous paper policies we’ve designed in Nigeria, would have helped us in a great way, not just on paper. Policies don’t work on paper. They need to be implemented. That is why…we’re backward in this part of the clime. A lot of things we pray about are simply key policy issues that needed to be implemented.
Beyond that, I promise you that I am building a community of idea implementers, thought leaders, community mobilizers, disruptive thinkers, global change makers, in 2019, who are willing to support each others with the needed resources (both tangible and intangible) to let there dreams, ideas, and innovations work and to foster transformative processes through quality thought leadership, ideation and implementation processes, as well as build socially consicous products and services that will promote this course. That is why we are here. And I also want you to contribute your part to make this happen.
Today, I’ll be letting it out. I’ll be introducing you to tools that will make your ideas work this year. Why have ideas and not be ruthless in execution. The fact that you had any idea is a possibility that you can make it happen. You can make it happen in a great way. But you need tools that will set your ideas in motion. Tools are leverage for making your ideas come into fruition.
What tools do I want to make you know today? Then it is this: “RAPID PROTOTYPING YOUR IDEAS”.

Rapid Protyping is an old concept and known to be applied in maufacturing but it can be applied into either areas, especially when you have great ideas. Great ideas can be rapid prototyped.
There is this fear of implementation of ideas among Africans. We say things like; “oh, this ideas is too big. It’s too small”. Stuff like that will not bring your ideas into fruition. But with the knowledge of rapid prototyping, you can bring the ideas into reality within few hours. Yes you heard that right. That is while I like technology. Technology has made things simple. It has made us achieve more with less. Rapid prototyping your ideas will make you achieve more with less.
But, there are three rules to this, and they’re:
#1. Find the quickest path to experience. Simply leverage on the simplest step that can make your big ideas happen.
#2. Do the best kind of thinking. Think through what you’ll be creating. Think and think and think. Though what you’ll be creating will not be perfect, but think through it again and again.
#3. Ideas are not powerful until you Rapid Prototype them, Fail, Remake, Fail Again and Iterate till you find an excellent exploit.
Now, to the most important part.
There are about 11 tools used in Rapid Protyping your ideas, all you just need is your laptop, smart phone and a data. Then you can create prototype and framework around your ideas using all of these tools.

#4. TESTING: Giving The End Users The Opportunity To Test The Ideas and Give A Feedback.
The launched ideas can then be tested by the end users to get a feedback from them. The most important is to get a feedback on features that works and those one’s that doesn’t work. The features that doesn’t work with your ideas are then removed, to give space for features that work.
#5. LAUNCHING: Your Idea Is Now Ready To Be Utilized.
When you’re sure of the viability of the ideation processes, then you can then launch the idea so that your end users can make use of the ideas.
